Flea, Worm & Ticks

Fleas: Various skin problems are caused to your pet by these external small parasites who could be so harmful to your family as well by shedding eggs in your home and lead to a home flea infestation, and the fleas’ bites are complicated to treat and could turn your pet’s life miserable. For the wellbeing of your pet and yourself it is necessary to take the precautions needed before handed the problem spread knowing that the flea stay in its cocoon for up to 6 months before it comes out.
Fleas can jump from other animals on your pet and start feeding on his blood and laying eggs. The fleas’ life cycle should be interrupted by effectively using the appropriate treatment for each pet. Recall the usual advice of our pet clinic “prevention is much easier than cure” without neglecting your pet health check as well.
Your pets’ first dose is around 6-8 weeks of age, considering their minimum weight. In case of a heavily infested young puppy or kitten, a flea treatment can be applied and can work within 24 hours. Most products are applied every four weeks; this is usually in liquid form and is placed onto the skin at the back of the neck or a tablet.
Signs indicating your pet may have fleas:
- Scratching, itching, nibbling, or biting the skin from the irritation
- Black or brown specks in the coat (use a flea comb)
- Fleas running through the coat only seen in heavily infested animals
- Having bites emerge on your own skin
- Miliary dermatitis (cats only) symptoms include scabby skin and fur loss down the spine
- Anaemia from heavily infested puppies or kittens with large blood loss from a flea burden
In case of any of these problems, do not hesitate to inform us during your pet consultation.

Worms are a continuous threat, and the only way to keep your pet and family safe is through strict and quick actions to get the best preventive products.
Infecting your pets and posing a threat to yourself and your family by neglecting the fact that worms actually produce more than 100,000 eggs per day, which are then passed in the pet’s faeces and spread throughout their surroundings. Once ingested by your family, the worms travel to various tissues in the body reaching eyes and brain, which causing serious infections.
Ticks as well feed on your pet’s blood by attaching themselves to the pet especially dogs as they walk in gardens, countryside, or green side areas. They cause anaemia in adult pets and humans, but the prime risk is Lyme Disease. Be extra careful in warmer weather because ticks carry serious illnesses.
Ticks have very strong jaws, so never try to remove them out by pulling them because you simply detach its body from the head, they will remain buried in the skin of your pet and cause more infections. Better use special tweezers to pull it out safely.
P.S. The treatment anti fleas, worms & ticks is mandatory before hospitalization or boarding (admission in our ward).
